Leinster handball championships 2013
McWilliams and Murphy grab opening round wins in Leinster Championships.
The opening rounds of this year’s Leinster 40 x 20 handball championships took place during the past week. Last year’s Junior B singles champion Darren O’Toole fell as the first hurdle in the Junior singles championships going down in a very close game against Kirk Greene from the Marble city on a 21-17, 15-21, 21-19.
In the junior B singles grade there was two Wexford winners in the opening round as Jason Murphy and Barry McWilliams both grabbed opening round wins. Barry McWilliams was a comfortable 21-3, 21-7 winner over Tommy Archibald from Kildare, however Jason Murphy had to work much harder for his opening round win as he beat Ciaran McCallan from Dublin on a 4-21, 21-11, 21-16.
Michael Busher went down 21-5, 21-8 to Philip Lonergan from Kilkenny, while Michael Donovan from Laois was a 21-6, 21-8 winner over Peter McGrath from Coolgraney.
