DEFENDING Leinster Senior A football holders Good Counsel stayed on course with a 0-9 to 0-7 win over St Mary’s CBS of Carlow yesterday.
With Jamie Meyler (0-04) and Mark Rossiter (0-3) in sharp form, the holders were able to survive the challenge of a Carlow side who were last year’s All-Ireland B champions.
Elsewhere Scoil Aodhain defeated St Joseph’s of Rochfortbridge by 1-11 to 0-10 in the other second round clash held yesterday.
A second half Adam Conway goal proved to be the decisive score as Scoil Aodhain booked their place in next Friday’s draw.
There is one remaining second round game and that will see Marist Athlone play St Peter’s on Thursday.
