Wexford GAA will hold a special meeting of Club Chairpersons and Coiste na nÓg Chairpersons on Tuesday 25th June in the Riverside Park Hotel, Ennsicorthy.
The meeting has been scheduled to review the Coaching and Games Programme within the county at all levels and to commence a new cycle of information gathering for the next strategic plan. In advance of the meeting, clubs have been issued with a comprehensive survey to be completed by coaching officers and underage coaches.
The last strategic plan, called “Ar Aghaidh Linn Le Chèile”, was launched in 2021 and will conclude at the end of 2024. County chairman, Micheál Martin outlined the importance of the meeting, stating: “Coaching is front and centre of everything we do.
We can be rightly proud of the work that is done around our county in clubs and schools. We know that we offer a really positive experience for our young players, that for the very most part is in line with best practice in youth sport. We have a committed Games Development staff who work with school and club volunteers and has resulted in a huge increase in participation in our games.
“However, we also know that we must always strive to improve and reflect on our structures at club, schools and county level. Wexford is uniquely dual across every area and it is important that club and county coaching plans are aligned,” he said.
A suite of proposals will be presented to club chairpersons for consideration, some of which may form part of motions to county convention in December. Other ideas from the night may form part of the next strategic plan, under a new executive from 2025. The meeting will also aim to agree a shared vision for Coaching and Games across all units in Wexford.
All clubs have been requested to complete the survey before June 20th, with a report to be issued to clubs in advance of the meeting.
