Club Coach Support Wexford (Part-Time/Casual)
Role/Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to guide and support coaches in clubs to create a positive and supportive coaching culture

The Coach Support will be responsible for the provision of coach development opportunities to coaches within the agreed club. They will work collaboratively with other members of the Games Development structure within the County and other members of the Coach Developers team to deliver key actions from their Games Development plan.

Key Accountabilities:
General
Liaise with selected Clubs/schools to determine what coach development support is needed in collaboration with the County Head of Games Development.
- Promote a good coaching practice culture in our clubs that fosters and develops in our players a love for our games that will support our vision for life-long involvement
- In line with the learner centred Coach Development Strategy, organise, facilitate, and deliver opportunities for coaches that can include but not be limited to:
- Informal coach development (Mentoring, Community of Practice, Coach Observations)
- Ensure that coach development aligns with the Gaelic Games Player Development Framework philosophy and values
- Promote and communicate available resources, tools, and best practice templates for coaches.
- Establish links and encourage clubs and schools to collaborate and share ideas and resources for the betterment of all units.
- Provide quality assurance on Gaelic Games delivery sessions where required by the County Head of Games and/or Coach & Player Development lead
- Support and contribute to the success of the broader Coach Developer Team.
Systems, Processes and Reporting
- Encourage and support clubs and schools to identify and implement good practice in the areas of coach recruitment, induction, recognition, development, communication, review, and retention. Development of club coaching plan & support with implementation.
Role and Responsibilities of Club Development Mentor
1. Support and Development Role:
- Primary Function: To assist GAA clubs in the effective implementation, monitoring, and review of their coaching plans throughout the season.
- Collaboration: Establish strong working relationships with the Club Coaching Officer and the Clubs Promotion Officer (PO) to ensure a coordinated coaching and player development approach.
2. Pre-Season Responsibilities:
- Mandatory CPD Participation: Before commencing duties, complete a one-day Continuous Professional Development (CPD) session to ensure readiness and up-to-date knowledge of the Club Development Mentor Role.
- Coaching Plan Review: Evaluate and provide feedback on the coaching plans submitted by clubs, ensuring they are well-structured and achievable within the season.
3. In-Season Responsibilities:
- Plan Implementation Support: Help clubs execute their coaching plans, address challenges, and ensure objectives are met.
4. End-of-Season Responsibilities:
- End-of-Year Review: Collaborate with clubs to conduct a thorough review of the coaching plan, assessing the outcomes, identifying areas of success, and recognising opportunities for improvement.
- Feedback and Reporting: Provide detailed feedback and recommendations in a final report, highlighting key achievements and areas for future focus.
5. Mandatory Check-Ins:
- Three Check-Ins with Wexford Coaching and Games: All Participate in scheduled check-ins to review progress, address emerging issues, and ensure alignment with Wexford GAA’s Club Development goals. These check-ins are mandatory and help maintain consistency and quality across the support provided by all Club Development Mentors.
6. Casual Worker Panel Participation:
- Wexford GAA Panel: Be part of the Wexford GAA 2024/2025 panel of Casual Workers, contributing to the development of GAA clubs across the region.
7. Additional Responsibilities:
- Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with club representatives, ensuring they are informed and supported throughout the program.
- Advocacy: Promote best practices in coaching, fostering a positive and developmental environment within the clubs.
