Wexford GAA is going to the races! The Cairde Loch Garman Race Day, proudly sponsored by Molloy Metals, will take place on Friday, 1 July 2022 in Wexford Racecourse. It promises to be a great evening’s entertainment, and the Wexford GAA social event of the summer.
Tickets bought in advance cost just €10 each – a 50% saving on the “on the day” price of €20. They are now available through all GAA clubs in Wexford, and can also be bought online.
The evening itself will bring a full National Hunt race card, as well as fringe events including competitions for Best Dressed Lady (sponsored by Sarah King) and Best Dressed Gentleman (sponsored by Hores Stores Wexford). After racing, there will be entertainment and music with lively band, The Waxies, and all who attend are welcome to stay on to enjoy the fun.
The previous Cairde Loch Garman Race Day, held in 2019, proved to be a great success. Plans to re-stage it had to be shelved in both 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but all involved are now eagerly looking forward to this year’s event. Hopefully, it will prove just as successful and enjoyable as the last.
Funds raised will be used to support Wexford GAA’s investment in the newly launched Integrated Athletic Development Programme. This programme, due to commence in September 2022, will bring delivery of athletic development training to some 1,500 secondary school students on an annual basis, as part of Wexford GAA’s community development well-being programme.
A corporate event is also being held on the evening, with attractions including a table service dinner, expert tipsters, and a GAA discussion panel. A measure of the interest in the event is that tables are already sold out, and a waiting list is currently in operation. Those wishing to be added to the list can contact the office at Chadwicks Wexford Park at (053) 914408.
Businesses and others who wish to show their support through advertising in the full-colour race card for the evening can also contact the same number.
Cathaoirleach CLG Loch Garman, Micheál Martin, is among those looking forward to the event.
“Our 2019 Race Day was a brilliant occasion, with more than 40 businesses enjoying a great evening while hosting staff and customers, and many more people attending and also having a great night out. After the disruption of the past two years, we’re really looking forward to the evening. It’s fantastic to see we’ve already got such support from the business community, and we’re sure there’ll be a big crowd from the GAA community there to enjoy the evening.”
He added his thanks to Molloy Metals (main event sponsor), all other sponsors, and Wexford Racecourse, for their co-operation and assistance in making the event happen.
