Excitement is building ahead of the Cairde Loch Garman Race Night at Enniscorthy Greyhound Stadium on Thursday June 13 next – with much of that excitement focusing on how every GAA club has a dog that could win them €1,000 there!
The Club Sweepstakes saw every club being assigned a greyhound, with Round 1 of the heats being run at the race meeting of Thursday May 23, and Round 2 a week later, followed by the semi-finals on Thursday June 6.
The stage is now all set for the Grand Final, and the list of qualifiers and trap draw is as follows:
Trap 1 – Horeswood – Cushie the Best
Trap 2 – Naomh Éanna – Metric Strike
Trap 3 – St. John’s Volunteers – Rathduff Soldier
Trap 4 – Marshalstown-Castledockrell – Connors Kobe
Trap 5 – Glynn-Barntown – Ridemount Sonic
Trap 6 – St. Anne’s Rathangan – Elite Kursk
The Sweepstakes Final will be just one of the highlights of the night, with others including a novelty relay race, and also a ‘Man v Dog’ race. In addition, there will be a barbecue, full bar facilities, and of course, lots of craic and chat. The whole event is kindly sponsored by Molloy Metal Recycling Ltd.
Each club has a number of tickets that can be used for any of the heats, while tickets for the Race Night itself cost just €10 each and can be purchased here. Under-16s go free, with no ticket required.
All funds raised will go to support our inter-county teams and our Integrated Athletic Development Programme. The purpose of this programme is to implement a coherent approach towards the area of strength and conditioning in Wexford to develop the stars that will represent Wexford at senior level in the future.
