A meeting of Coiste Contae CLG Loch Garman took place in the Ferrycarrig Hotel on the evening of Tuesday January 13th, 2026. The main purpose of the meeting was to consider motions in respect of 2026 club competitions, and the following decisions were made:
Adult Hurling Championships
A change to the structure of the adult hurling championships was agreed on foot of a motion submitted jointly by Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club and the Hurling Advisory Committee.
There will remain two groups of six in each grade but the change means that the following will apply after the group stage:
- Top three in each group qualify for quarter-finals.
- 4th plays 5th in preliminary quarter-finals.
- Teams finishing in 6th place exit the championship proper and go directly to a Relegation Final.
- In the quarter-finals, group winners play one of the winners of the preliminary quarter-finals (repeat pairings to be avoided where possible). Runner-up in Group A plays 3rd in Group B, and runner-up in Group B plays 3rd in Group A.
- Open draw for semi-finals. Repeat pairings from group stage are allowed.
Split Season
A motion from Horeswood GAA Club to re-introduce a hurling/football ‘split season’ in our club championships was defeated.
U21 Club Championships
It was agreed that U21 Club Championships will move to the end of the year rather than having their early rounds played midweek during July/August.
Club Championship Draws
On foot of a motion submitted by CCC Loch Garman, a new Pot 3 & Pot 4 will apply in the draws for groups in our Club Championships.
The pots for the draws for Senior Hurling & Football Championships will now be:
- Pot 1: County champions & beaten finalists from the previous year.
- Pot 2: Two beaten semi-finalists from the previous year.
- Pot 3: Four beaten quarter-finalists from the previous year.
- Pot 4: All other teams.
The pots for the draws for the Intermediate, Intermediate ‘A’, Junior & Junior ‘A’ Hurling & Football Championships will be:
- Pot 1: Relegated team and beaten finalist from the previous year.

- Pot 3: Four beaten quarter-finalists from the previous year.
