With just weeks to go until Castletown’s Beach Bog Run 2013, event organisers are inviting runners and adventure enthusiasts to register now to participate in one of the most exciting challenges the sunny South East has to offer. The Beach Bog Run will take place in Castletown, outside Gorey, Co. Wexford on Saturday March 16th. Among the entrants last year was former Irish Rugby International Shane Byrne.
Now in its second year, the Beach Bog Run will cover a range of natural terrain and man made obstacles over a distance of 6km or 10km. Stamina and endurance will be put to the test as the runners cross over muddy bogs and wet territory. Forest and road make up the remainder of the course and participants of all ages will return to one of North Wexford’s finest beaches to cross the finish line.
The race organisers are expecting a large crowd to descend on Castletown for the bank holiday weekend, with the success of the previous event having attracted challengers from as far as the UK. The event has also become part of ‘The Gathering 2013’ giving overseas visitors even more of a reason to visit and enjoy a trip to Wexford this St. Patrick’s weekend.
The online registration fee is €20, which includes car parking, transport to the start line and post-race hot drinks. Late Registration will be open on the day from 11am and the race will start at 1pm. Funds generated from the event being donated to the underage development of Castletown’s GAA club.
