ALLIANZ RACKARD LEAGUE UPDATE
The Allianz Rackard League competitions are now at the knock out stage with the girls football finals down for decision this week.
The first of these is the Roinn C Final which will see St.Aidan’s play St. Senan’s at 6pm in St.Patrick’s Park on Tuesday. This Cathedral town derby should be an excellent game as both teams have been the stand out performers in this Roinn all year. St. Senan’s had too much for a brave Craanford side and had fine performances from Shauna Dwyer, Ava McCormack and Zoe and Cody Byrne. This will be followed at 7.15 by the Roinn B decider which sees the Mercy Wexford take on Ballygarrett. Both sides are no strangers to finals day and it should be a cracker.
Taghmon will stage the Roinn A final on Wednesday at 7 pm. This year sees the return of Kilmore, who have been such a dominant school in girl’s football over the years, to finals day where they will take on Castlebridge.
Piercestown edged out holders Gorey CBS in the final round of the league in the Allianz Roinn A Boys which has decided the make up of the semi finalists. Gorey take on St.Aidan’s on Monday at 3.45 in Ferns and Piercestown will face Rathangan.
The quarters in the Allianz Roinn B saw Glynn overcome Wexford CBS on a scoreline of 2- 7 to 0-6. while Bunclody were too strong for Kilmore. The semi finals will be Adamstown V Glynn and Kennedy Park V Bunclody.
Bree saw off a strong Ballindaggin challenge to capture the Enniscorthy title in Allianz Roinn C. Blackwater captured the Wexford District title seeing off Scoil Carman 4-8 to 4-6 after extra time in a ding dong battle. Horeswood were too strong for Tintern on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-1 to claim the New Ross title in what was a great week for the parish. Kilrush won through against Ballygarrett in the Gorey District to make it through to the county semi finals. Horeswood V Blackwater at 4pm in Taghmon on Tuesday and Kilrush V Bree at 4pm in Ferns also on Tuesday.
