A sold-out room in Talbot Stillorgan Park Hotel played host to the “Game Changers” Business Lunch on Wednesday with a star-studded panel hosted by well-known Wexford celebrity, Ivan Yates.
A business panel of Joan Kehoe, Patrick Atkinson (CEO Chadwicks) and James O’Connor (VP Microsoft) outlined the challenges in the finance, construction and tech sectors while providing an insight into what has brought them to the top of their game. This was followed by a sporting panel of Hannah McCormack (Tackle Your Feelings), Billy Walsh and Tadhg Furlong who outlined the ingredients for a performance mindset.
The event also saw the launch of Cairde Loch Garman as the only official fundraising arm of Wexford GAA, with members from Dublin to Dubai and from Sydney to Savannah. The Dublin Branch of the Wexford Supporters Club will be now integrated with Cairde Loch Garman Áth Cliath, while Cairde Loch Garman An Astráil and Cairde Loch Garman Meiriceá will be formally launched in the coming months as further branches of Cairde Loch Garman.
Speaking at the Game Changers event, Micheál Martin, Cathaoirleach CLG Loch Garman, said,
I am delighted to launch Cairde Loch Garman Áth Cliath today and complete the integration of all Wexford GAA fundraising bodies under the umbrella of Cairde Loch Garman. One of the key goals of our Strategic Plan is to ensure that we have appropriate structures and strong governance in place with clear lines of responsibility and accountability throughout Wexford GAA. We are tremendously fortunate to have dedicated and vibrant group of supporters who have supported and promoted Wexford GAA for a number of years and this structural change will bring us to the next level.
Chairperson Cairde Loch Garman, David O’Connor, outlined,
Cairde Loch Garman generates almost 45% of Wexford GAA’s income through fundraising and commercial sponsorship with the remainder coming from gate receipts and support from the GAA centrally. These funds are used to support coaching and games, preparation of intercounty teams and investment in facilities such as Chadwicks Wexford Park and Halo Tiles Wexford GAA Centre of Excellence.
