Wexford and Oulart’s teak tough and sometimes controversial hurler, Darren Stamp has announced that he is hanging up his intercounty boots. Darren who made his debut for Wexford in 2001, has been a stalwart of the team ever since.
Darren, captained Wexford on a number of occasions usually manning one of the most demanding positions on the park, centre back. Darren, while not the most physically imposing was never the less dominating and was known for his steely determination and bravery, never shrinking from any opponent.
Wexford supporters will fondly remember his time in the purple and gold and how he held his head high even in times of adversity.
Darren will continue to play with his club and will line out against the Faythe Harriers in the Wexford SHC final on Sunday 14th October.
