Two young debutants for Wexford
The Wexford team to play Antrim in the Quarter-Final of the Leinster Senior Hurling championship in Wexford Park on Sunday next has two championship debutants in Niall Breen from the Tara Rocks club in goal and the 19 year old Matthew O’Hanlon from St. James’ named at full-back.
Willie Doran, who scored the vital goal against Tipperary to keep Wexford in Allianz League Div. 1, plays at mid-field while his club-mate Ciarán Kenny plays at centre-back in the absence of the injured captain, Darren Stamp. Jim Berry, who was Wexford’s most promising forward during the recent league campaign, is at top of the right.
Colm Bonnar and his selectors look to have a reasonably settled team and they will be hoping they can overcome the men from the Glens in this tricky opener. Antrim has already a championship win under their belt over Laois so confidence will be high that they can pull one over Wexford on their own home turf.
